The lighting supplier General Lamps was started in 2000 and has become one of the country’s leading suppliers of light bulbs both online at lamps-on-line.com and as a wholesaler. Longbow was launched in the same year and we are proud to have worked with them since then to support their marketing, including their first website, a lighting catalogue, and packaging for their own-brand lightbulbs.
It was an honour to be asked in 2020 to design two anniversary posters to celebrate their success.
A little bit of history
The early 20th century was the heyday of development of lighting technology and companies such as GEC, Osram, GE and Philips were all competing to promote the wonders of their products.
It’s interesting that today, lightbulbs are produced that mimic those early products.
The General Lamps posters are a tribute to the advertising style at that time, which used strong, simple graphics and images. We added a little ‘grunge’ for an aged look.
